FasTrak issues violations to drivers who use FasTrak facilities but fail to pay the tolls. FasTrak offers a wide range of convenient methods to pay toll violations. FasTrak actively works with drivers to resolve violations and waive penalties for first-time violations if they open a FasTrak account before the payment due date.

Bridge Toll and Express Lane Violations

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) enforces the vehicle code in the state of California, including codes related to toll facilities. The CHP patrols toll collection points at bridges and express lanes. They also monitor whether or not a motorist using the carpool lane qualifies for the discounted toll. If motorists are observed not following bridge or express lane tolling rules, the CHP will issue tickets.

FasTrak electronically detects FasTrak toll tags and uses cameras to issue toll invoices or violations to the license plates of vehicles passing through toll locations

If you don't pay your toll or invoice by its due date, you will receive a delinquent notice. The following is a schedule of penalties:

  • First Notice Issued - Toll plus $25 penalty.
  • Second Notice Issued - Toll plus $70 ($25 penalty plus $45 late fee). If the toll is paid within 15 days, the penalty will be reduced to $25.

Failure to respond to the second notice will result in additional penalties and fees, as well as referral to a collections agency and/or withholding of your vehicle registration by the DMV.
